The Museum Education Consortium of Buffalo is a cooperative
group of local cultural organizations in the City of Buffalo. It
includes the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo and Erie County
Botanical Gardens, Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society,
Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park, Buffalo Museum
of Science and Tifft Nature Preserve, Buffalo Zoo,
Burchfield-Penney Art Center, Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House Complex, Forest Lawn Heritage Foundation, Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, and Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium. This
website is intended to promote the services and resources offered
to educators.
The New York State Learning Standards stress the value and importance
of cultural organizations as resources for learning. Our cultural
institutions offer primary sources and first-hand experiences
with art, history, science, and the flora and fauna of our world
- both in the present and from the past. They are valuable assets
for teaching and learning about our world.
While many educators are aware that guided tours are offered,
they may not know about the other educational opportunities offered
by museum educators at cultural organizations. Hands-on learning,
interactive tours, loan kits, classroom presentations, audio-visual
programs, curriculum guides, and additional resources are only
some of the services we can provide. Museum educators are available
to work with you and provide the resources to meet your curriculum
needs.
The members of the Museum Education Consortium of Buffalo want
you to know that there is a wealth of educational resources and
programs waiting for you and your students to discover and experience.
Please use this website as a guide to explore the possibilities
for using Buffalo's cultural organizations as partners in the
classroom. |
